Located in the north of Italy, Lake Como is one of the most sought after destinations when it comes to the picture-perfect getaway which combines stunning views with a very tranquil way of life. As well as the lake itself, Como also boasts a selection of impressive museums, historical buildings and delightful cafes and restaurants.
There are a number of great things to do and see all around Lake Como. One of the best is a funicular ride up to Brunate, a small town nestled away high up in the mountains surrounding the lake. The views from the top of the town and lake are simply unmatched. From here, you can either take in the views in one of the several terrace restaurants or take a further hike onto Mount Boletto for even bigger and better views.
A boat trip on Lake Como is also a must-do for anyone who travels to this idyllic part of the world. There is no better way of exploring it than either getting a tour from one of the many operators or hiring one for yourself. There are also boat rides available that will take you directly to the charming towns of Bellagio and Cernobbio which are well worth the visit and exploration.

There is no shortage of luxurious options including villas, apartments and studios that overlook various parts of the lake and the surrounding sleepy towns. There are also cheaper options set either slightly further away from the lake or slightly higher up, but still with excellent accessibility to all of the sightseeing that you will want to do.
We generally recommend a visit to this beautiful location from March until around October time. This is when the temperatures are very pleasant for walking around and the weather is most reliable for the prettiest pictures you can imagine.
