The Scottish capital is one of the grandest cities in all of Europe, with plenty of deep-rooted history and a proud culture to match. Seeing the city on its own should be on your to-do list, but with a range of festivals happening in Edinburgh over the coming months, there really isn't a better time to visit! Edinburgh International Film Festival

Taking place between 21st June and 2nd July this year, the Edinburgh film festival is world renowned for promoting the very best in international cinema. The focus of the festival also debates global film-making and the impact it can have on its viewers. An Inconvenient Truth, a film based on climate change and its very real threat, is just one of many famous and meaningful films to have featured in recent years. This film festival is certain to be a real eye-opening and interesting experience!

Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival

The Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival is set to take place from the 14 - 23 July. With the first festival being in 1978, since then it has been a major hit with increasing numbers each year. Celebrating not just jazz music but the whole 'good-feel' around music in general is one of the key themes. It now attracts some of the best musicians from around the world so don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity to listen to some great music!

Edinburgh International Children's Festival

This internationally-recognised festival consists of some of the best children’s theatre and dance from around the world, with performances that are sure to delight and inspire the young and young-at-heart. The range of shows available at the festival is incredible, with some targeted at children as young as 2 whilst others are suitable for people of 13+ years. For anyone with a taste for theatre and culture, this one has to be on your list! If you're in Edinburgh 27 May - 4 June, make sure you take a look!

Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Described as the single biggest celebration of arts and culture on the planet, the Fringe hosts thousands of performers every year. These range from the world famous in their respective fields to up and coming talents. The entertainment ranges from comedy, to dance, to opera! Beginning on the 7th June this year, make sure you are in Edinburgh for the Fringe festival. A top tip is to not just stick to what you know, there's a whole host of art forms for you to get stuck into and discover!
