Cheekytrip Reviews: The best beach resorts in Turkey

Chris Butler June 21st, 2019 5,550 views

Turkey is blessed with glorious weather and gorgeous beaches, but which are the country's best beach resorts? Cheekytrip takes a look at five of the top places to spend a week (or two) relaxing by the Med.

Olu Deniz
When it comes to beaches, there aren't many better places in Turkey than Olu Deniz. Located on the south-west 'Turquoise Coast',  the most famous beach in the area, the Blue Lagoon, is simply breathtaking. The area has been heavily protected through conservation, and as a result, the natural environment has been left to flourish. Beautiful green and mountainous landscapes surround the bays, many of which can be accessed by water-taxis from the main town beach.

Dalyan

Dalyan is home to gems like Iztuzu Beach, a vast eco-friendly beach surrounded by the beautiful mountainous Turkish landscape. Here, it's not unusual to find loggerhead turtles crawling onto the shores,  which are protected as endangered species. Another popular spot in Dalyan is the town centre itself, where there are plenty of historic buildings, cafes, restaurants and shops.

Kusadasi

Set on the Aegean Sea, Kusadasi is home to stretching golden beaches and a charming promenade and harbour. Downtown Beach is the most popular in the area due to its close proximity to the main harbour and town centre. From the beach, you can walk to Pigeon Island, a small peninsula with an Ottoman-era castle towering from it. The surrounding area of Kusadasi is reaped in history, and you'll find loads of attractions including the UNESCO ancient Roman city of Ephesus site.

Side
Like Kusadasi, Side holidays can perfectly balance the beach/pure leisure with history and culture. Down by the harbour, you'll find the Temples of Apollo and Athena - an ancient Roman temple still standing (just about), a real sight to behold. The Greek Amphitheatre is another incredible sight, dating back to the 7th Century BC.
