The timing of this award adds historical significance, as 2025 also marks the 700th anniversary of Benidorm’s founding under the Carta Pobla. What is the European Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism Award?

This initiative builds on the success of the European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN) program, launched in 2007, which celebrated lesser-known sustainable tourist destinations.
